How to Automatically Add Links In Libra Office Writer (On Linux Mint)

When I used to use MS Word for wordprocessing, every time I added a hyperlink, such as “www.example.com,” and hit enter, the link in the text document became live. On Windows computers, this happened with Libra Office Writer as well.

After I switched to Linux Mint, I noticed Libra Office Writer did not respond in the same way. When I added a link and hit enter, the link remained normal text instead of automatically becoming live.

I often have to add hyerlinks to text doctuments as part of my work. With some documents, I have to add 20 links or more to the reference section at the bottom of the page. Having to add the links manually was annoying. It was time consuming too but I won’t be doing that anymore. Today, I found out it is possible to add links ot Libra Office documents automatically when you press the enter key.

I this is problem that’s been bothering me, I’m sure it will be bothering other  people as well so I’m going to share the tip and, don’t worry, it’s not complicated. It’s incredibly easy to do.

I discovered this by accident, when I hit the enter key and one of the links turned blue. I realized I must have had one of my fingers resting on another key at the time so I tried a few and found the magic key. IT’S SHIFT. If you want to add your links automatically in Libra Office Writer (on Linux), all you need to do is hold down shift when you hit enter.

I hope this inormation is useful to you. If it is, I am glad I could help.
